Our Story
The Tarik S. Pierce Foundation was born from community conversations about what’s missing — and what’s possible — in DC’s LGBTQ+ landscape. Founders and friends of Tarik came together to honor his legacy of inclusion, positivity, and support. They envisioned a “lemonade stand” for the community — a grassroots, welcoming hub where anyone can find a connection, a resource, or simply a friend who listens.
We’re not here to replace large organizations. We’re here to connect them, to fill the community connector gap, and to make sure small acts of care ripple outward.
Filling the Community Connector Gap
Many LGBTQ+ individuals in DC feel disconnected or unsure where to turn. We act as a first text, first hug, and first hello — linking people to the right local resources and organizations, and ensuring no one slips through the cracks.
Building Togetherness and Belonging
We foster peer support and micro-acts of care that make a big difference — a check-in, a meal, a listening ear. Our model focuses on supportive care rather than clinical intervention, reducing stigma while increasing connection.
Strengthening Local LGBTQ+ Infrastructure
By collaborating with small, grassroots groups, we help build a stronger, more inclusive network of LGBTQ+ support across DC — amplifying local voices, events, and partnerships.
Honoring Legacy Through Activation
We channel Tarik’s legacy of joy and empowerment into community action — events, storytelling, and small projects that celebrate LGBTQ+ history and visibility.
Uplifting Unheard Voices
We shine light on the stories that don’t get told — especially from marginalized and underrepresented members of our community. Representation begins with being seen and heard.
